Kit List

We will provide:

  • Buoyancy aids
  • Mountain bikes and cycle helmets
  • A waterproof course map pre-marked with checkpoint locations
  • Electronic scoring device per team to record your visits to checkpoints and time
  • Race numbers
  • Water stations

What you will need to bring:

  • Bike tools (including puncture repair kit, pump and spare inner tube)
  • Compass
  • Permanent marker pen
  • A first aid kit per team
  • Mobile phone and change for the public telephones as reception can be patchy

What you are advised to take with you:

  • At least a litre of water; platypus or similar hydration systems are popular
  • Energy bars, gel or similar race food to eat en route
  • Wind & waterproof outer layers including waterproof trousers
  • A whistle and a survival bag or sheet
  • A watch
  • Hat and gloves
  • A towel / wash kit for changing afterwards
  • A complete change of clothes for the after event activities
  • A small rucksack to keep the above items in and some change of clothing

What to wear:

Outdoor kit that you'll be wearing throughout the event, and is therefore suitable for each of the following activities: biking, walking/running and raft building. A spare set of this kit may be needed in case you get wet during the event.

  • Either running tracksters/tights or shorts
  • Cycle shorts, eyewear, gloves
  • A couple of technical T shirts - long or short sleeved
  • Off road trainers
  • A thin fleece or other warmer layer to put on over your technical T shirt and beneath your waterproof

Make-A-Wish

Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK grants truly magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. Make-A-Wish was founded in the UK in 1986 and, since then, has granted over 5,800 wishes. At any given time, over 20,000 children in the UK are living with life-threatening conditions and their aim is to grant 1,000 wishes each year by 2012.
